South Yarra Tram Upgrade Works

There will 24 hour works from 10pm Friday 11 June to 5am Saturday 19 June 2021.

Works will include:

Setting up work areas and traffic management.
Building two new accessible platform stops including associated infrastructure like new tram shelters and passenger information systems.
Installing a bike lane (as part of the tram stop only) and bike parking hoops.
Widening the pedestrian crossing and footpath.
Creating water sensitive garden beds. Reinstating the area.

Finishing works:
- On the footpath and garden beds. This will be for 3-4 weeks post major works.

Road and parking impacts:

Toorak Road will be closed to traffic between Davis Avenue and Claremont Street from 10pm Friday 11 June to 5am Saturday 19 June 2021.
Osborne Street will be closed at Toorak Road from 10pm Friday 11 June to 10pm Sunday 13 June.
There will be no on-street parking on Claremont Street to allow for two-way traffic during the platform works.
Other lane and on-street car park closures will be required around work areas.
Traffic management and signage will direct traffic, please follow signage around works.

To make Route 58 ready for E-class trams, upgrades to tram infrastructure and power networks are required.
A power upgrade is required to the network that feeds from the South Yarra substation, off Daly Street, South Yarra.
This will take place in two stages during the same week as the tram stop upgrade (6pm to 5am, Wednesday 16 June to Friday 18 June 2021) to minimise disruption to the community.

Road impacts for power supply works:

Chapel Street will be closed from Almeida Crescent to, and including, the intersection of Toorak Road and Chapel Street from 1am Wednesday 16 June to 9am Thursday 17 June 2021.
Toorak Road will also be closed from the intersection of Chapel Street to Chambers Street (west) and River Street (east) from 1am Wednesday 16 June to 5am Friday 18 June 2021.
